Garo Yepremian didn't know football. The first game he ever saw, he played in–as a placekicker for the Detroit Lions during the Detroit Lions vs. Baltimore Colts game in 1966. Was he scared? You bet! Was he nervous? And how! Did he even know how to put on his uniform? Not a chance! And yet, he overcame these and many other obstacles to go on to become the Pro Football Hall of Fame's choice as the kicker of the decade from 1970-1980.
He was on his way, and went on to a fifteen-year career with the NFL, playing for the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. From 1966 through 1981 he missed only one season, 1969, when he proudly volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army. Read More |
